What? What is that? This Eastern Pipistrelle was found in our tree about a week ago.
Can you believe it??? A bat! Ahhhhhhhhhh! Run for cover everyone. Wait, where did the boys go? Oh my God, they're about to touch it!
Our useless cats are laying in the shade. We feed them too well! Maybe we should turn the dog loose on the big scary blood sucking bat! Ahhhhhhh! Run everyone!
Seriously though, the little bat was so darn cute! He was no bigger than a mouse and he hung on our tree while we all gathered round and stared at him for a good 15 minutes. The neighbors and their boys even joined our little bat watching circle. I am building a bat house - those little guys eat mosquitoes!

Next week on O'Brien Family of 4, the boys take turns riding the 10' alligator they found in the backyard!
Seriously though, that is awesome! I love bats. They really are sort of cute. I'm interested to see how that bat house turns out.
Wow! But wait...during the day?! Is that just a myth that they shouldn't be out during the day? Am I thinking of vampires? That little guy is cute!
