Root Beer Cake

So, I've had this recipe for root beer cake since June of 2008.......2 years later, I pull that sucka out & the boys are on board to cook it up. We assemble all ingredients and get to work. Actually, Connor didn't do much work. He was more like, back up support - yeah that's it. The cake turned out pretty darn good. Actually it was much tastier than I thought a root beer cake with root beer frosting would be. Below is the recipe so you, too, can make the cake.

Ingredients

Cake:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 Tblsp. baking powder
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup root beer

Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/8 tsp salt
4 cups powdered sugar
2 Tblsp milk
1/3 cup root beer, chilled

Create It! Time to cook!
1. preheat oven to 375 degrees. grease and flour a 12x8 pan.
2. combine cake ingredients ina large mixing bowl. blend at low speed; then beat for 3 minutes on medium speed. pour into pan and cook for 30 minutes.

For Frosting: beat together butter, salt, 2 cups of powdered sugar, and milk. Blend in 2 Tblsp of root beer and the remaining 2 cups of powdered sugar. Beat in the remaining root beer, as needed, until you have the desired consistency. Spread onto a cooled cake.
