Helen Keller in 2nd grade

Connor's English Language Arts class just finished studying the life of Helen Keller. They read her biography, had a blind speaker, studied braille and performed a reader's theater. The reader's theater was a 5 scene performance, based on Helen Keller's life and written totally by the 2nd graders. They wrote the reader's theater, brought their own props and decided upon costumes. Their wonderful teacher guided and directed but did NOT run the show.

It was an awesome experience for Connor. He practiced his lines and took his part very seriously.

We (mom & dad) and Connor's GG were able to attend. When Connor saw his GG there, his face lit up! He was so proud and excited.

Connor narrated scene 2 & did a fabulous job. Since he is a wonderful reader, it was a breeze for him.

He stood on the stage and never even appeared to be nervous. How cool is that? Being able to stand before a crowd and speak is such a great skill. Kuddos to Mrs Ross for providing this opportunity!!!

That's so awesome!! I wish my girls had opportunities to study a specific person in depth like that and put on a play. Great job, Connor!!

He did a simply fabulous job of narrating and there is absolutely no prejudice coming from this corner. :-)

Thank goodness they start teaching that skill so early on. Maybe if they had in my school, I would be better at public speaking. Maybe. Nope, nah, nevermind...I'd stillbe terrified. Good job to Connor!!
