Sick books

So this post isn't about sick books.  HA!  Got ya!  Its really about being & reading.  I caught the same virus that Connor down & out for almost 3 weeks.  It didn't hit me quite as hard, but there were days when I couldn't get out of bed.  I ran a fever, coughed and had the worst headache.  What I found, was that while nothing could soothe me, a good book could distract me a bit.  So, while I was sick, I read two books.
Not a beach vacation, but at least I got to read 2 books!  The Whip by Karen Kondazian

and Mr. Churchill's Secretary: A Novel by Susan MacNeal
Both are historical fiction & I really enjoyed them.  I have always been fascinated by Winston Churchill and think that this may actually get me moving to read some non-fictional works about him & those that worked for him.  The Whip was just a cool read.  Its about a woman who, during the gold rush, dressed as a man & was a famous stagecoach driver - while the story was embellished it is based on a true character.  Again, I think I may just try to find a non-fictional piece on Charley the whip.  What an interesting thought.  I can't imagine living that sort of double life.  I guess you'll never see me trying to pass as a man.   :0)
