Blue Jays

We have lots of birds around our yard again this year.  Between the bird feeders and our loquat tree, the wildlife is being well fed.  I've really enjoyed sitting in our backyard, watching all the different type of birds that fly in and snack on our loquats.  I think we've had an extraordinarily large loquat crop this year.  The squirrels have been loving it too.  With lots of birds, come nests & with nests, come baby birds.

Michael found a fledgling Blue Jay in our yard.

The parents were doing a good job keeping the cats away.

Those parents were some terrible squawkers!  It was interesting to watch them fly to the fledgling, coo & coddle it, and them fly to the cats and squawk crazily.

Sure hope the baby Blue Jay made it through the night.

This is a treacherous neighborhood, if you're a baby bird on the ground!
