I caught on to crochet fairly quickly and have been doing that for the past few months. I went to a weekly crochet gathering with my mom and relearned my crochet stitches. Generally, I don't like to do something I can't pick right up and go to town with. One of the sweet ladies at the crochet group suggested I practice my stitches for at least a few weeks so that I could make sure they were even. At first, I didn't like that suggestion. I had really wanted her to just teach me how to make something right away. I tried the stitches and really enjoyed the feel of the needle and the yarn but, I quickly realized this would take practice. I heeded her advice and continued to practice my stitches. After about a week I felt comfortable enough to try moving ahead. I had decided to make a hat. When I read a pattern, I knew I was in over my head. What is all this sc, dc, mc, etc...??? I found I didn't quite speak crochet. Well, I booted up the computer and went straight to you tube. What an awesome site! I found videos with step by step instructions. I was able to watch, stitch a bit, rewind if I needed to and watch again, then move ahead. Wowzers! Technology is cool! So, I made some gifts that I was really proud of.

A few hats & a few scarves & even a pair of baby booties. I wasn't so sure about those booties & want to try those again. Then, I heard that my sis-in-law was expecting a baby girl. I knew right away that I wanted to make something special for the little angel coming into our family. My project was a hat & bib w/little sweet flowers.

The bib was much harder than I expected but I made it through. I am so proud that I have been able to create these things.

I've taken a short creating break but plan to get back at it soon. Who knows?!?!?! One day I might even try to make a baby sweater. I still think I would like to learn to knit - I love socks and would like to try my hand at knitting some fun & funky socks.
