Perseverance

I'm sharing with you all, an essay written by Connor.  We are so blessed to have been chosen to raise such a special boy.  He is awesome in so many ways, while still being a typical 9 year old boy.

Truism

Perseverance is the key to success. I can say that because I have had NF2 since I was three years old. Let me explain, NF2 is a disease that gives me brain tumors.

In November 2011, I had my eye taken out. I’ve kept on going because I want to, because I can. Some of the difficulties I’ve faced  are: leaving town, seeing new doctors, missing school, taking medicines, and having my port accessed. If I did not have these surgeries, I would be in lots of pain.

Before I had my eye removed,  we tried chemo therapy to shrink the tumor. Each time I had to get and infusion, I had to miss school. To keep up with school, sometimes my mom would give me spelling tests. Every time I went I had to have my port accessed,  which means I had to get my port poked with a needle. I then had to sit in a room for two hours, to wait for medicine to be infused. I t wasn’t fun, but I had to do it to try and shrink my tumors.

Having my eye taken out was scary, and it still didn’t relive all the pain. Now I still have to see lots of doctors. We’re also trying to get into a trial of a new chemotherapy. If we get into the study we would have to go all the way to New York.

The key to success in my NF2 s perseverance. Perseverance means keeping on even if it is hard. I keep on seeing on doctors, having surgeries, and taking medicines if I need to. I don’t let any of these things keep me from doing the things I want to.
